Microneedling / Collagen Induction Therapy
Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is designed to enhance skin texture and quality.
Microneedling: What To Expect
The microneedling device is equipped with fine needles which is carefully passed over the skin, creating controlled micro-injuries. This step stimulates the body's natural healing process, triggering the production of collagen and elastin, essential proteins for skin elasticity. The needle length can be up to 2mm depending on the area of use, so can only be used by a certified practitioner.
Post-treatment, there may be mild redness and swelling, which typically subsides within a few days. Aftercare involves gentle cleansing, avoiding direct sun exposure, and maintaining skin hydration with a mild moisturiser.
The number of microneedling sessions needed can vary based on individual skin concerns, the desired outcome, and the intensity of the treatment. In many cases, a series of sessions is recommended to achieve optimal results. Generally, a course of 4 to 6 sessions, spaced several weeks apart, is common.
Areas Treated
The benefits of microneedling are multi-faceted. The procedure promotes collagen production, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. It enhances overall skin texture, minimising pore size and improving the absorption of skincare products. Particularly effective in scar reduction, microneedling addresses concerns such as acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks.
How long is the treatment?
15 minutes.
How long does it last?
6 to 12 months.
