FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is facial aesthetic treatment safe?

Facial aesthetic treatment is very safe, however, like any procedure there are always risks. These risks are reduced when you are treated by an experienced practitioner. If you choose to have facial treatment with a non-medical practitioner then you are putting yourself at a greater risk if anything unexpected was to happen.

Anti-Wrinkle

What is Botulinum Toxin (BTX)?

Botulinum Toxin (BTX) is a type of purified protein that is injected into the muscles. It has been used for over 25 years and it is a very safe and effective way of smoothening lines and wrinkles on the face.

What can it be used for?

BTX can be used for the following treatment:

- Fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead
- Laughter Lines aka “crows feet”
- Brow lifting
- Excessive sweating
- Gummy smile
- Lower face and Neck
- TMJ issues such as Bruxism, headaches, jaw ache etc

How many treatments will I need?

In most cases, patients see a difference after one treatment and you start to see improvements 3 days after treatment. Every face is unique of course, and we’ll advise you on how many treatments you’re likely to need and how often, depending on the results you’d like to achieve.

How long does it last?

The effects of Botulinum Toxin often last up to 3-4 months, depending on the patient. If you decide to stop treatment, any permanent lines and wrinkles will gradually return. Repeated treatments can lead to more prolonged effects and so less frequency of treatment. Maintenance treatments are necessary to keep the effect for long periods of time.

What can I expect on the day?

Small amounts of BTX are injected into the muscles. It is very rare for the treatment to be painful and most patients experience a feeling of slight discomfort if at all during the treatment. Rest assured we will talk you through what to expect before your first injection, so you will be fully prepared before treatment.

What are the side effects?

Like all medicines, BTX can cause side effects, however, any reactions are generally minimal and temporary. You may find that there can be some slight discomfort as the needle enters the skin, and you may have some bruising or bleeding where the needle has been placed.
Very rarely, BTX may result in muscle weakness and other possible side effects can be found within the patient information leaflet. Please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to give this to you.

Fillers

What are fillers?

Fillers are injectable gels made of lab produced hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the body which helps add volume and hydration to the skin.

What is it used for?

Fillers can be used to smoothen lines and folds, restore facial volume in areas such as the cheek and naturally enhance the shape of lips.

How long does it last?

The great thing about fillers is that you start to see immediate results. As the months go by, your own collagen is stimulated by the product, giving long lasting results between 6 months to 18 months.

What can I expect on the day?

Any makeup in the area will be cleaned and disinfected and if required, topical anaesthetic gel will be applied to numb the area. The filler will then be injected into the area and you may experience a little discomfort. Results will be immediate and you may experience some bruising and swelling.
